Sushi is one of my absolute favorite dishes—which gave me the idea: Why not sew a pillow in the shape of sushi? The shape is perfect for a sewing pattern, and with different fabrics or colors, the pillow can be
wonderfully varied. Whether classic sushi or a fun inside-out roll, there are endless ways to get creative.
The special feature of this pillow is the appliquéd details, mirrored on both sides to give the design a more realistic look. While the instructions assume basic appliqué skills, I also offer an additional guide to help
with the basics if you need it.
The sushi pillow is versatile: whether as a decorative cuddle pillow, a centerpiece on the sofa, or even a yoga cushion—it looks great anywhere. And for those who want to personalize it, the depth of the pillow can be adjusted depending on the intended use, or you can add details like embroidered sesame seeds, plush fabric for fried rolls, or even handmade accents.
I recommend woven fabric, but feel free to let your creativity run wild. Plush, cotton, teddy—choose your fabric based on the desired effect and customize the pillow to your liking.
